Director of Bridgetown International University In Meeting With Ronald Jones, Education Minister, Barbados and Dr. S. K. Washim, Chairman of Rus Education
Recently, a meeting was held between Mr. Mohammad Zahidur Rahman, Director of Bridgetown International University and Mr. Ronald Jones, Hon’ble Education Minister, Barbados. The meeting was graced by Dr. S. K. Washim, Chairman of Rus Education.
During the course of the meeting, the three dignitaries sit together to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the healthcare world of Barbados and how the University and the Government of Barbados can work together to improve the health of all with quality and affordable medical education and innovative solutions to ensure healthcare services for all the Barbadians.
In the course of the discussion, it was apprised that the University expects its first batch of students in September 2018. As per the estimate, a total of about 500 applications will be received from countries across Asia, Africa and the Caribbean with significant aspirants coming from the land of India, Ghana, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Nepal.
Situated in Barbados, Bridgetown International University was started with a mission to make quality education affordable for masses and provide medical aspirants in all sections of the society an opportunity to study medicine in an environment of medical excellence.
To turn its aspirants into reality, the University has collaborated with Rus Education India Private Limited, India’s largest facilitator of medical education abroad, to make aspiring doctors in India aware about its medical programs and lure the eligible candidates to come to Bridgetown and study medicine in Barbados.
On occasion, Dr. S. K. Washim broke the news that there are plans to build a campus in Barbados with a capacity to accommodate 5,000 students in the next five years. Putting a spotlight on the necessity for quality of education in the healthcare sector, Dr. Washim said: “We will not compromise on quality, and we will provide the best quality of education so that our graduates can go to any country in the world and work as doctors.”
In the meeting, the University affirmed its commitment to encourage investments in Barbados for the betterment of education, healthcare, employment, housing, tourism, retail sector, and the overall infrastructure of the island. “It is beginning to show the kind of results that we want, but it will still take between five to ten years to fully maximize the full potential of that” – said the Education Minister
